I’ve been quiet, and that is mostly because I have been feeling quite down about the state of my recovery. I knew that I may not be back to my pre-surgery self at this point (one year after my surgery), but I guess I hoped that I would be. The unfortunate reality is that I am not. Although I am much better than I was a year ago, I am still far from where I was the day before my surgery. And that is depressing. So, I am setting three goals for myself in the coming year:
- Build my physical strength and endurance so I can eventually get back to activities that I love and miss.
- Continue to work on finding ways to decrease my pain and the spasticity in my back.
- Focus on strategies to improve my mental state.
